Pediatric nutritionist and Kidfresh advisor, Sharron Dalton, PHD, RD, gives us the dish on kids and veggies!

Only 1 in 10 children in the US actually get the recommended daily values of fruits and vegetables (American Journal of Preventive Medicine, 2007).

As a father and founder of Kidfresh, one of my top priorities is to offer nutritious meal solutions for parents and kids.  That’s why Kidfresh partnered with acclaimed pediatric nutritionist, Sharron Dalton, PHD, RD, of New York University. We carefully develop our recipes with the help of Sharron, an expert in childhood obesity and body weight management who advises Kidfresh about balanced nutrition and portion sizes. Start from what our children love and make it healthy

As parents, my wife and I know how hard it can be to make children eat anything but their favorite foods, such as pasta and meatballs or pizzas. I first started my company, Kidfresh, with my own store in New York City where we offered organic and all natural kids’ food, including our own Kidfresh meals, freshly prepared in the kitchen.

Learning from this experience, I decided to broaden our reach and offer my all natural kids meals in supermarkets throughout the country: the result is a line of frozen meals that are healthy, nutritious and great tasting.

Kidfresh frozen meals are not only convenient (easy to store, easy to cook) and affordable (helping to minimize waste and to cut down trips to the grocery store)… they also offer excellent nutrition and taste.

That’s one of the reasons we decided to do frozen meals - one of the most important facts about frozen foods is that flash freezing technologies effectively lock in nutrients.

For instance, as studies have demonstrated, frozen vegetables are nutritionally equivalent and, in many cases, superior to their raw counterparts. In one study, when comparing frozen beans with fresh, researchers found that the frozen green beans had more than twice the vitamin C as green beans that had been displayed in the store and then stored in the fridge before eating.
