This is a complex issue. In the US and internationally, there are conflicting views and research on the issue of GMO safety. The fact that so much of the research related to GMO impacts has been funded by private lobby groups on both sides of the issue further complicates the matter.
Currently there is no regulation anywhere in the United States requiring the disclosure of GMO ingredients to consumers. This is in contrast to 58 other countries around the globe who highly regulate the cultivation and sale of genetically modified crops and often require the labeling of foods that contain GMO ingredients.
As parents and founders of Kidfresh, our commitment is to offer all natural foods made with the highest quality, safest possible ingredients. No compromise made for our children! This is why we’ve decided to use non-GMO ingredients in our products.
We began rolling this out in April 2014 and will continue throughout the year depending upon packaging inventory.
As parents, we believe that the food industry should help parents make their own food choices by providing them with the information they need. We feel that foods containing genetically modified ingredients should be clearly labeled to help consumers to make their own choices. We support mandatory labeling and a consumer’s right to know.
YES! We have supporting documentation from all of our ingredient suppliers to document their non-GMO status. This documentation is available upon request.
All Kidfresh products are tested on a regular basis. In addition, we also test every time there is an ingredient change to any of our products.
Organic ingredients are very good but also more expensive; sometimes up to 40% to 50% more and we want our meals to be affordable. Quality for children should not be a luxury, but an everyday concern. We use organic ingredients whenever possible. In addition, we use:
– No artificial flavors, colors or preservatives.
– No hydrogenated oils. No high fructose corn syrup.
– No RBST growth hormones.
And you can be sure we never use a drop of anything artificial –EVER!
